Junkyard Christmas!
Junkyard Christmas! started out as an idea that came to us back in 1993. Why not have all your musician friends record holiday songs on their little home recording systems, compile it all into a cassette tape, and hand them out as Christmas gifts? That seemed like a handy notion, and so the first Junkyard Christmas! was born, so-called because of the low-res nature of the recording and the duplication. We repeated the project in 1995, with Junkyard Christmas! The Second Coming, which had professional duplication and much-increased quality. We also donated the proceeds to MainSpring House, a local homeless shelter, which gave us both a broader distribution and a warm fuzzy feeling.
In 1996, we decided to do a really professional job on Junkyard Christmas! and put out a CD. So, with the release of Junkyard Christmas! (the CD), Junkyard Productions had it's first quality product. Special thanks to Chachi Leivi and Bobby Hickman, who made the whole project possible. Once again, the proceeds were donated to MainSpring House, but a portion of the funds were also donated to Harb-Adult, a homeless rehab organization in Lancaster, PA, from where many of the musicians on the CD hail.
Junkyard Christmas! contains a broad variety of musical styles, including blues from the Bruce Marshall Group, choral arrangements from Lancaster's St. James Episcopal Choir, selections by a trombone quintet led by Robert Mulligan, a respected jazz musician from Reading, PA, and other holiday selections both traditional and modern from various musicians from both Boston and southeastern Pennsylvania. We can say without reservation that Junkyard Christmas can stand alone with the best of Christmas CD's on the market today without flinching. See below for track information.
There are still a limited number of copies of Junkyard Christmas available. All proceeds, as noted before, are donated to charity and are fully tax-deductible. See the order page for ordering information!
